This Page is dedicated to my character Mythos. She’s a Sphinx and the star of my hope-to-happen someday Webcomic. Images will be posted from newest to oldest so you can see my progress in developing this character.
Action Pose! As of 8-16-15 this is my latest finished work of this character.

The goal was less on the background and more on how the heck does perspective work on my version of what a Sphinx is? I wanted to show her in a fierce pose, landing and ready to kick some major tail. She is probably the most complex character I have ever drawn, but damn I do enjoy it. :)
As I draw this character I am always trying new/faster ways to color. This was aquicker drawing, that took me a couple of hours instead of say… 10.

You will notice that she sometimes has bandages on her arm. In my head canon she is tough, but she is also prone to injuries.
At this point, my confidence in portraying her is a little stronger. Her fur looks more solid, and I’m gaining even more understanding of atmospheric perspective.

This is also where I introduce a new character: Allemoi a Kestral-Harpy who is Mythos’ mentor.
Detail shot of Allemoi, Mythos’ mentor. She is a harpy, based on a realistic size of what a bird would be compared to Mythos. She is based on an American Kestral… (even though Mythos’ story is based on the Amazonian Culture in Ancient Greece…. I JUST REALLY liked the colors!)

Action Pose: Trying to see how her body would move, how her wings would react, etc…
This was an experimental drawing with a limited color palette.

Here is where i’m starting to get a handle of her anatomy a little better. I do constant research on lions and eagle to really understand how her body would work. ITS REALLY TRICKY. Drawing Mythos has also taught me a bit about back grounds.

Mythos’ Weapon of Choice is a Staff, but she is also good at archery and melee fighting.

Mythos as a youngster:

My first ever completed drawing of her. Sooo old. So Rough.

Yiikes so MUCH has changed since this drawing 2 years ago…. I am constantly learning, constantly trying to adjust how to draw her easier and faster. It really does take lots of practice and dedication to get to know a character, and draw them better each time.
