Here is every single page of Kill Six Billion Demons.

It represents about 1300+ hours of work.

If you’re thinking of making comics, music, podcasts, fashion, or some other kind of similar art , just remember, no matter who you are or what you are doing, you can (and should!) 100% absolutely positively make your thing.

Two and a half years ago I was sitting in a coffee shop really dissatisfied with my art and thinking about this story I had, with 0 pages drawn. That was me. I was that person. Now I have this ridiculous thing. I drew about 70% of it a page a week while working a regular 40 hour workweek and living in a foreign country. The most recent stuff I’ve been able to draw through the absolute majesty and support of the internet.

As much as I like to nonchalant about it, it’s been absolutely life changing. I wasn’t expecting it to be at all. But I really want to stress that even if you have an inch of ambition and some beautiful story, art, or music you have swirling around in your head, you are a damn fool for keeping it in there. Get it out.

I just went with one of my dearest friends to put her cat to sleep. Her cat was only 4 years old.

It was very hard…to watch her go through this. She loved that cat like crazy…

If you have a pet and it may wake you up in the middle of the night and you get angry because you have to work in the morning. Be thankful.

If your dog is racing to the door to play with you outside but you don’t feel like it. Remember that your dog’s entire world is YOU. Be thankful that you have a loving companion who wants to spend time with you.

If your cat walks in front of your computer and blocks your vision remember she’s probably just wanting to spend time with you.

Don’t take your time with your furbabies for granted. You never know how long you have. They are family. Take care of them.

Episode V (long post ahead)

Summary of MaryneDrawsStarWars Episode IV: here

What it’s about: it’s basically me sharing my experience of watching all of the Star Wars movies for the very first time by livetweeting and livedrawing while doing so. All of that so I can watch Episode VII and fully appreciate it.

I AM PUMPED FOR EPISODE VI.

As always, if you want to join me for the third round, check the #MaryneDrawsStarWars tag on Twitter and Tumblr to know the day and hour!

If on the contrary, you want to avoid it, blacklist the same tag for Tumblr (without space between the words), and if you follow me on Twitter, you’re welcome to mute me at the hours I’m doing this!

Sorry to bother, but do you have any tips on controlling/easing up PTSD flashbacks during important situations? I've recently started having frequent flashbacks while driving and it's really freaking me out. Any suggestions?

Hey anon,

We have the following resources about PTSD and flashbacks:

Overall, though, it’s probably most helpful if you find personalized coping mechanisms with the help of a therapist.

–roborpator

Shout out to you who stick by your loved ones when they are at their lowest.

Shout out to you who remain strong even when they are falling apart.

Shout out to you who may feel scared for your loved ones during their flashbacks, disassociation and painful memories but stay right where you are and wait for them to come back to you.

Shout out to you who pray silently that their flashback will end and they can hear YOUR voice again.

Shout out to you who stand beside them during the storm if fear and emotional melt downs. A silent but steady presence, a warrior guarding their loved one’s body as they fight the scariest battles on the inside.

Shout out to you, who loves without wavering. Who tries to understand, who asks questions to learn how to help and listen to what your loved one says so that next time, if you can give them any help you are available.

Shout out to those who know that what they are going through is NOT YOUR FAULT. That you know that you are needed and wanted, even when it may not seem like it.

Shout out to you who learn and look for triggers and do your very best to keep your loved one safe.

Shout out to those of you who are learning to be better. Because what hour loved one is going through is hard and scary and they may feel that they are very unsafe.

Shout out to all of you who won’t allow the stigma of PTSD define your loved one. You know they are survivors fighting baffles over and over again. You are making your loved one feel safe.

Shout out to you who don’t see your loved one as crazy, or melodramatic. You fight along side them. You have their back.

Thank you for holding on. Take care of yourself so that you can help them. Build a support group for yourself. Remember to eat.

Don’t give up on them. You are priceless.

Hey jelly beans don’t forget when you’re working on your resumes that commissions 100% count as job experience! Label that shit ‘freelance work’ and name a few clients or projects!

freelance/commission skills:

- self directed
- incorporating feedback
- adaptable
- satisfying client expectations
- working closely with clients/ working one on one
- meeting deadlines
- communication skills

What counts as freelance work?:

- basically anything anybody asked you to do
- if it’s for a company or group name them
- if your mom or a friend or a stranger bought a painting or sketch from you they are an individual commissioner/client
(if your mom asked you to make something for her organization/club/publication/thing put down the name of that group as your client!)
- if you entered a contest with your work it was created ‘on spec’ (speculative basis)
- if you made work for free for a cause you believe in it’s ‘pro bono’
- sometimes personal projects are worth mentioning, it’s a ‘self initiated project’
TIP: if you worked and weren’t paid/weren’t paid a lot you don’t have to mention that you didn’t get $s

You don’t have to list every job you’ve done- go with a shortlist of the most exciting, while implying that you’ve done more!

If the job you’re trying to snag involves the art/design/the stuff you do, definitely make sure to include a link to your website, or a pdf portfolio! Make it easy to see your work!

You can make a separate heading called “Side Projects” and include commissions into your resume. The most important part to remember however is that whatever projects you include? Need to be directly related with the job you’re applying for.

So say you’re applying for a graphic designer position and the job responsibility looks something like this “Graphic Designer will work on the Print/Creative team developing marketing campaigns, Monster Jam souvenir yearbooks, Ads, posters, flyer design, billboards, merchandise, logo design, monster truck design, digital archiving and storage and photo correction/manipulation & web related materials. Will also develop graphic design work for all of the company properties.“

And you can think of commissions or freelance work where you helped a friend by making a logo design or did photo corrections/manipulation for a cousin’s wedding? Hell YES include that stuff in. Just make it sound all professional and shit like

- Conducted photo correction and manipulation for complete wedding album by using XYZ programs. Completed task within X-days.
