“When we lose certain people, or when we are dispossessed from a place, or a community, we may simply feel that we are undergoing something temporary, that mourning will be over and some restoration of prior order will be achieved. But maybe when we undergo what we do, something about who we are is revealed, something that delineates the ties we have to others, that shows us that these ties constitute what we are, ties or bonds that compose us. It is not as if an “I” exists independently over here and then simply loses a “you” over there, especially if the attachment to “you” is part of what composes who “I” am. If I lose you, under these conditions, then I not only mourn the loss, but I become inscrutable to myself. Who “am” I, without you? When we lose some of these ties by which we are constituted, we do not know who we are or what to do. On one level, I think I have lost “you” only to discover that “I” have gone missing as well.”
― Judith Butler, Precarious Life: The Powers of Mourning and ViolenceThis is absolutely astonishing. Seriously, I’m in awe.
Oooohh this is really nice.

Ahhhh, thank you so much :D
(My parents read Always Human, so I can guarantee it will always be family friendly!)I love and adore rockandriotcomic by cheriiart, Shoot Around by suspucious, Gunnerkrigg Court by gunnerkrigg and Wootlabs by diceknight. They’re all really good comics! They also all have LGBT+ leads and from memory they’re kid-safe. (It’s possible they have the odd swear word? I don’t remember, sorry!)
And they have some cartoony violence, so you might want to skim them first before passing them on to your kids (Gunnerkrigg Court especially gets quite creepy.)
I’ve never noticed anything that I wouldn’t let a kid, at least an older one, read in yamino‘s Sister Claire (but I will also admit I’m -super- behind on it), but perhaps you could poke her, or she could ~maybe~ notice this post and weigh in? :3
My definition of kid-safe is of the more European standard where nudity (especially of a non-sexual context) is fine, but gratuitous violence is not. I know some Americans feel the opposite is true, so I just need to preface my commentary with that.
Sister Claire is overall kid-safe, although there is one scene in the Missing Moments where sex is implied by not shown. You do get to see butts on rare occasions, though. OOOOH, BUTTS. But we’ve never had full frontal nudity, and don’t plan to. Pregnancy is a feature (one is immaculate, and later you have Queen Sylvia who keeps losing hers- but I don’t think this is something kids require sheltering from.) I’m pretty sure Sister Olga says “Damn!” at some point. Ooh.
But if you’re looking for queer representation provided in a very accessible way, I highly recommend it! We’ve had a lot of straight cis readers comment that the story opened their eyes to a lot of issues and identities they were completely unfamiliar with, and we’ve also had a lot of positive response from fellow LGBT readers! =)
Reblogging for the original anon (and for me, because I need to read Sister Claire one day.)
Thank you both :)
Reblogging to add Missing Monday by elleskinner to the list of kid-safe LGBT+ webcomics I absolutely adore. I don’t know why I forgot to mention it earlier.
Also Agents of the Realm by adventuresinconcepting is really really amazing and may possibly qualify as child safe depending on the age/maturity of the child and how you feel about the things mentioned in the content warning (scroll down to the faq for more info on these things.)
Because I can’t, and I will never, EVER, shut it off.
Ever.
I really don’t think I will. Boy for a long time anyway

Just another sneak peek! I have about 10-12 illustrations based on the proposal that JAnet and Seychelle did this weekend…I’m SO JAZZED! This is a bit rough, and I’m not sure how its going to fit in with the finished product but I’ll figure that out as I go!
A sneak peek of a one shot proposal comic thingy! I’m half crazed with happiness and giddyness!!! I will also be posting a doodle of myself reacting to the skit that Janet and Seychelle did x3.

Korra: Asami, um, you were there for me when I didn’t know who else to turn to and i realized, uh, when i realized that, that i didn’t want anyone else to turn to…and i would like to be there for you and rely on you in life and in love for the rest of my life…will you share that with me?
Asami: wow, Korra…I-i don’t know what to say besides that you said everything i’ve been feeling lately..and i mean lately for a long time…um but, yes of course! I-i would love that
Korra: okay. Also you have to promise to tell me when i’m being a jerk
Asami: *laughs*
Korra: And you’re never a jerk so don’t ask me the same thing
Asami: I promise, Korra
Korra: Okay
Asami: I love you
Korra: I love you
(Then Janet turns to the crowd and says “How was that?” and the crowd cheers)
*dear goodness I love these actress

Question: When do you think Korra and Asami fell in love?
Seychelle: At the race track.
Janet: I think Korra was both intimidated and admiring at first … but I really love the race track answer.
David: I like that answer too.
HONESTLY
I KNEW IT
